The Aged Care Guild, in partnership with The Australian, held a Future of Aged Care lunch in Sydney on Friday, 10 March 2017. The event featured a panel discussion exploring key issues that are critical to the aged care and broader health system in Australia.
The event, which was followed up with a 6-page special report, examined the strengths and weaknesses in Australia’s aged care sector and debated the funding, policy, regulatory and workforce changes required to meet the rapidly growing need for more widespread, consistent care in the future.
The Australian’s Health Editor Sean Parnell and a panel of experts discussed challenges and opportunities in the aged care system. Some of the speakers included:

- Ian Yates AM, Chief Executive of the Council on the Ageing
- Professor Michael Woods, Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation, University of Technology Sydney
- Ross Johnston, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Regis Aged Care.
